Dysport is an alternative to Botox®, which is a neuromodulator injection, used to relax the facial muscles and stop them from contracting. Stopping the contractions (e.g. frowning or squinting) for long period allows the skin to appear smooth and youthful again. Here at The Healthcare Gallery, we believe that neurotoxins such as Dysport is an essential part of wellness. Fine lines and wrinkles are key markers of the aging process due to the depletion of collagen and hyaluronic acid. Therefore, Dysport reduces the lines and replenish the volume lost from important areas like the cheeks and forehead. Cosmetic fillers don’t just make you look better, but they can also boost your collagen and hyaluronic acid levels so that your skin’s natural balance is restored.
Ideal Candidate
This is suitable for most skin tones and types, especially if you:
- Are looking for a nonsurgical procedure
- Are looking for a preventative treatment to fine lines and wrinkles
- Have crow’s feet
- Have furrows between the eyebrows, the “11s”
- Have horizontal forehead lines
- Do not have allergies to neurotoxins
- If you have deeper lines or significant volume loss, an injectable filler may be recommended.
Procedure Technique
Dysport injection procedures are typically completed in our office as an outpatient procedure and can be combined with another facial or skin care treatment. In the visit, you will perform various facial expressions, such as smiling, squinting, frowning, etc. Then we will clean the skin and inject the Dysport with a fine needle. Injections typically take about 10-15 minutes and we ask that you don’t lay down in at least 4 hours after the procedure.
What to Expect
After your Dysport injection, your skin may be slightly red, swollen, or bruised for the next couple of days. This is a normal reaction that will subside. It is highly recommended that you avoid touching your face in the first 24 hours, because this could accidentally lead to the Dysport spreading to other areas. However, you are allowed to gently wash your face. You may resume with your typical daily activities, but we ask that you avoid any strenuous exercise for at least the first 24 hours. In most cases, it could take up to a week before the full effects of Dysport are clearly visible. The results may last up to 3-4 months. If touchups are needed, please feel free to schedule that as needed.
